Come Teach and Explore Chiang Mai, Thailand with us and enjoy free Accommodation and Meals...

Welcome to our home stay in Chaingmai ThIland.Come and Join with us. My name is Fai and I run a small language center and here we teach conversation skills. We realize the importance of English and having fun while learning. We are about 15 minutes drive from town so we have no tourists and very few foreigners.
The students have no opportunities to use English in conversation so we love for volunteers to come and help them practice speaking out loud with games and activities while learning new material... Generally, the students’ level of spoken English is beginner or intermediate level. Some of them are developed by volunteers and reach an advanced level...

What we exchange with our volunteers:
1. Teaching techniques. If you are already a teacher we can share our experiences.
2. Exploring the local Chaingmai areas (hot springs, caves, mountains, markets, waterfalls) during free time.
3. Eating local and traditional Thai food both at the school and around the area.
4. Teaching volunteers how to cook by using different techniques. Some dishes I have taught before to volunteers are: honey toast, green curry, shabu shabu, tom yum soup, padthai, papaya salad etc. This activity always do on every sunday.
5. Meet local people around Chaingmai. They are always eager to get to know volunteers because they don’t see a lot of foreigners.

Note: If you are not a native speaker but you have experience in teaching English or are confident that you can teach, you are still very welcome. We can offer guidance on what to teach and how to teach it if you need it. If you are not Native speaker but you are confident to speak English we are welcome....

Teaching Details:
1. Skype lesson with adults : 18.50 - 22.10 on the weekday and 13.00-15.40 on the weekend. These lessons are split between the volunteer we have. Typically 40 minutes per class. 3-5 classes per volunteers
3. Saturday – Sunday: There are 4 classes each day. They start at 9.00 am and end at 12.00 pm. We have 4 volunteers at the time. so, 1.5 - 3 hours per person during the weekend...

A past volunteer says - 'The way it works is that most of the Skype lessons take place after dinner from 18:50 till 22:10 - so it's 5 lessons 40 mins each. But volunteers don't always have all 5, usually less. It depends on how many volunteers are there at a time. On average it's 4 Skype's in the evening and sometimes one or two Skype lessons earlier - between 15:00 and 18:00.

I had a great time. The Elephant trip was a lot of fun and I was lucky enough to be with a fantastic group. The Pai cave trip was more than I expected. And it was a fantastic experience.

I spent 4 weeks volunteering with Fai and Pong. It was an amazing time, I recommend it to everybody! I had a few classes with kids a week and Skype lessons with adults every day. At first, teaching adults via Skype doesn't sound great but now I think it was the best! I talked to many Thai people with different backgrounds which let me learn so much about Thailand. They are eager to learn and grateful that foreigners take time and teach them. They have different reasons for learning English - they want to change jobs, travel, teach their kids, improve themselves. It feels amazing and fulfilling to actually help them achieve these goals. Classes with kids are fun too, Fai and other volunteers help you understand what to do and guide you. A few times a week Pong took us on awesome trips! If you are a positive person, happy about the work, eager to learn and connect with the family and other volunteers - you will feel like home and have great fun. I recommend volunteering here!
