"TEACH KAREN HILL TRIBE TO BE LOCAL GUIDE"
You'll experience Thai culture. We're a village development project with a focus on hill tribe people.
You'll teach them to be a local guide. For Stability in their life. You will have the unique opportunity of seeing village life at first hand and experience a culture that has little changed over time. Working the whole week with the children at the school and with the villagers is a very fulfilling task but also a challenge it can be tough and you need a break.
During the week, after class, volunteers have spare time and usually just relax in the village or take the opportunity to explore around - there are a lot of things to do. You will have chance to visit waterfall, elephant care, hiking, Thai massage, afforest, hill tribe’s weaving. Also you will get chance to learn traditional knowledge from the hill tribe people about house and field, garden, farmland, forest, culture and family, passed on for centuries.
Besides this being that you are in a rural village, which offers many special events and activities you never know what will pop-up. There is no set schedule here and the villagers do not have the same concept but your day may fill up.

1. To teach people in the community to be local guide.
- Working the whole week with the children at the school and the villagers in the village.
2. Take care of elephants.
- Our Village: Kindred Spirit Elephant care is set among the rolling hills of Northern Thailand in a Karen hill tribe village. It is surrounded by a forest. You will be feeding and even playing with the elephants. It’s also important to us that you learn as much as possible about the elephants and why it is important to protect them.
3. General maintenance.
- Help around
English level of locals :
• Basically zero
• Most students cannot identify capital letters and small letters, nor recognize all alphabets
• some students can say some words but not spell nor read
• cannot understand all verbal instructions, demonstration needed
Teaching focus:
- Simple conversations which encourage students(Children and villagers) to speak English. It helps them communicating with volunteers and other foreigners in a certain extent and boosting their confidence.
Private room for 2 people.
The house is on the waterfall. You will sleep with the lullaby of the waterfall. And go to swim often as you need. You will stay in a private room (for 2 people shared). Sheets and a blanket, mosquito net and fan will be provided. Share bathroom.
You will get chance to stay with village's home or guest houses. It's depend on that time. Pictures on our profile. We will choose the best for you.

Pick up - Monday 10.00 am. at the Sanpatong police station.
Drop off – Sunday at the Sanpatong police station

We charge Euro €150 per volunteer per week to help in sustaining them while here. We expect full payment of program fees prior to arrival so we can prepare well in advance for you. Please note: All program fees would include accommodation, meals, project placement, villagers support.
- Volunteering is charity work, not a business. it is a non-profit project, an initiative, a charity. It is initiated and executed by the villagers, the local schools, local authorities
- Any costs issued from accident or sicknesses during the stay at the project are covered by the volunteer. (The project's "KAREN HILL TRIBE TO BE LOCAL GUIDE" free of any responsibility or financial duty.)
- We recommends to its volunteers to have or to contract an adequate insurance covering their volunteering period.
- Bring your private stuffs such as medicine, mosquito lotion ,etc.
