Our small saffron farm is located 35 km south east of Marrakech In the foothills of the Atlas mountains.

In the coming months we must dig up all our bulbs, separate the spent bulbs and re-invigorate the soil before replacing the daughter bulbs. We are seeking to implement new strategies to protect the saffron during the periods of unseasonal low rainfall and higher early autumn temperatures.

The role would entail helping to oversee the process and bringing any expertise to the process.

The Saffron plant contains more than 150 volatile and aroma-yielding compounds and it is these compounds that are arousing so much interest in the world of medical and nutritional research.

Saffron takes a little preparing to reap the full benefits of the spice. To obtain a good yield this autumn we need to replace nutrients in the soil using the principles of permaculture
