We run a beautiful small and quirky coffee shop and hostel in South West Kerry in Ireland. This is a small community with a vibrant tourist trade from March until November. It is a beautiful part of the country with lots of stunning scenery and plenty of outdoor activities to be enjoyed.
Tasks to be carried out would be varied and interesting with lots of interaction with local people and tourists. It could vary between preparing accommodation for guests to general cleaning to making bespoke coffees!,tending tables in the coffee shop, preparing desserts, opening and closing duties etc.
Everything in our operation is carried out in a relaxed and very friendly environment.

We would ask our volunteers to do 5 hours a day 5 days a week with 2 full days off each week. There is flexibility on the days off. As it is a seasonal business it can be busier at certain times of the year than others.July and August tend to be the peak season months.
Fluency in the English language is a big advantage.

Unfortunately I arrived a day after the coffee shop closed for winter. It would have helped if I was made aware of ONLY cleaning of the establishment was required. Not what I signed up for.
It was the best experience of my life. The host was totally amazing. He was always there when I needed him. People were fantastic, really helpful, patient when I didn't understand them. Work was fabulous. I would repeat and I recommend this place.
My very first Help Stay, and I could not have been luckier in getting this gig!!! Every day was filled with: lots of laughter (thanks to witty owner James); incredibly charming Irish customers (make you feel like family from moment you meet them, truly missing them all); too short of time with James’ girlfriend Chiari (like James, you couldn’t ask for a better boss or more hardworking chef) and her wonderful Mom, simply magical; and the list of superlatives to describe my time at the fabulous ‘Bake My Day Cafe’ goes on and on. Needless to say, I will be returning every year, with the hopes that my co-worker from FL or someone equally as fun and hardworking will be there again (despite being in his 80’s, my co-worker worked harder than most 20 year old’s that I know and never hesitated to work beyond the 25 hours required each week, such an inspiration). Huge hugs and gratitude to you James Hayes for providing me with so many cherished memories!!!
