Hello and welcome! The main project consists in the renovation of a splendid house in the mountains with a mill for grinding chestnuts. The place is really immersed in the green of Tuscany (garfagnana) with over 300 chestnut trees. There are natural waterfalls of 5 and 20 meters just 15 minutes walk away and many fantastic walking trails.

I currently have about 50 free range Chickens and several cute German shepherds who helps me look after them. There is also a pond with trout that I restored.

I have a vegetable garden and many wild herbs, berries, nuts and mushrooms to harvest and preserve. So even in the winter I can provide good food which is sourced locally. If you like I can teach you to cook using traditional Italian methods.

The drinking water comes from a natural spring. With this I also make my own soap. The farm has a river running through it, and in the future I would like to create hydroelectricity from this. Right now I'm concentrating on renovating the bathroom, although I do have a toilet, shower and bidet working with hot water made with a wood-fired heating cooker.

Please note my place is a bit isolated in the mountains, suitable for nature lovers. If you don't arrive by car you can take a bus or train from Lucca to Coreglia and from there I can pick you up. Thanks in advance and see you soon.

Matteo is very kind, considerate and practical. He knows ALOT about nature and about "living off the land". He was very considerate of my personal daily schedule and didn't impose his own schedule upon me. The work was plenty and varied and the hours were full yet not too hard to handle. I really enjoyed the free time I spent with Matteo; chatting, having conversations about current world events and watching very interesting documentaries mostly about science. Matteo has plenty of ideas and plenty of resources and with the right team, he will get all his ideas off the ground, which he has already done. One other thing I really appreciated was the time Matteo took to come pick me up from the train station and then also to drop me off at the train station at the conclusion of my stay. He was very helpful overall. Oh, and he is HILARIOUSLY FUNNY! If you might be having an off day, don't worry! Matteo is always in a good and happy mood. His jokes will literally crack you up!
