Experience the Charm of the Desert while Staying with my Family in Tagounite, Morocco.

I always wanted to have contact with other persons from other cultures. I now have many friends from all over the world , and I still want to get in touch with others who have not yet experienced the charm of the desert.

If you want to experience a totally different culture and different people you can take some time out of your life to forget the modern life and visit us. Here we use the wood to make the fire, to give us the light and we cook by it, we use traditional bathroom and sleeping facilities. We go out of our way to make sure you are comfortable and have a good experience.

We can make arrangements to accompany you into the large sand dunes of the Sahara to stay in nomadic tents overnight and to ride camels, if you wish to do this. Just note that this is outside of the project and there are costs involved to make the journey.

Volunteers currently go to the small river nearby to swim or just chill together here during their time off, but we can help with any trip you want to make to see the environment here.

You will sleep in one of the rooms we build ourselves in the traditional way, out of palm tree, bamboo and clay. There are mattresses on the floor and blankets provided and you will share with other people. We have basic traditional washing, toileting and cooking facilities. We sleep on mattresses under the stars in summer, or in our traditional tent. It is basic but also very beautiful and an adventure to be here.

The knowledge of the Saharawi has been passed down to me. Attached to this harsh and alluring land, I would love to make your journey a haunting and magic experience should you come to Zagora or tagounite and plan to enter the Sahara. I live in Tagounite, and my brother and I are rebuilding my family home and converting it to a rural rhiad where people can experience desert life

I went to this project with my mom. We stayed for a week, but regretted that we had to leave so early. It was the most interesting and relaxing experience we ever had! We really loved it there, and wish to return very soon. Abdo is a very nice person, and you get the chance to meet other people from around the world. We went on a trip to the desert, which was amazing! We still miss it every day, and won't be able to forget about it, ever!

We had a wonderful and magical stay at the project in the desert. Abdo and Mumbarak were the sweetest and kindest people you could wish for as a host and friend. They were very helpful and involved with everyone and we cooked together every night. We helped with various things, as long the heat would let us. Slept every night under the stars (though there are enough rooms to sleep in if you wish to), fed the animals and experienced the near village Tagounit aswell. I would definitely come back to experience this again :)

I host Linde and Anna in our family. They helped me in a lot of work inside the project and outside. They are very friendly and open minded. I'm happy that they visited us and had a good time with us. Thank you very much again for you help. I hope you comeback again. I hope and we hope and we wish meeting you again. You are more than welcome anytime we wish you the best. And hope to you see soon again.
